Opened in 2007 in the lovely Wallingford neighborhood, Joule is the James Beard nominated restaurant of Chefs Rachel and Seif.  Joule relocated to the current home on Stone Way in 2012, where we are dedicated to offering our unique take on a modern day Korean Steakhouse, showcasing our creative, yet authentic, interpretation of Korean and Asian fusion. Joule offers a cozy heated patio space and intimate dining room where all of our guests can witness the inner workings of our open kitchen while experiencing warm and genuine hospitality. We invite you to join us for an evening of shareable plates, delicious cocktails, innovative PNW wines and celebration.

CELEBRATION If you are dining with us celebrating a special occasion, you can preorder a whole cake from the Paper Cake Shop with custom message with three days of advance notice. Please place an order directly online and add your Joule reservation information. The cake will be presented and served at the end of the meal for your celebration!

RESERVATIONS | Joule’s patio and dining room are open. Please make reservation online or call us at 206. 632.5685. 1.5 hours of dining time is reserved for parties of 2-3 guests and 2 hours for parties of 4-5 guests. SERVICE CHARGE | As of January 2025, Joule has transitioned to a 22% service charge in lieu of guests being expected to leave a tip. This change reflects our commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience while ensuring the sustainability of our small business.

Our team consists of dedicated hospitality professionals who have chosen this industry as their career. By adopting a service charge model, we ensure a sustainable framework that provides our team with excellent compensation and benefits. This approach allows us to prioritize our team’s well-being and invest in their growth within an industry known for high turnover and limited access to health and wellness resources.

This service charge is retained 100% by the restaurant, and the restaurant will pay about 18% commission on sales to the employees in addition to hourly wages, resulting in a total pay of $36-44 per hour for Front of House (FOH) roles and $26-34 per hour for Back of House (BOH) positions, plus benefits. To promote fairness, we share this across both FOH and BOH teams, including line cooks and dishwashers, ensuring everyone is equitably compensated for their contributions.
